COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a beginning Spanish course designed to introduce students to the Spanish language and to Spanish and Latin Culture. Students will develop a novice level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing of the Spanish language. Speaking and listening skills are presented in a meaningful manner to foster a broad understanding and appreciation of the various cultures of the Spanish-speaking peoples. |
STANDARDS USED IN INSTRUCTION
Standard 1-3 Communication - Students understand and interpret written and spoken communication on a variety of topics in the target language. - Students engage in oral and written exchanges, which include providing, and obtaining information, expressing feelings and preferences, and exchanging ideas and opinions in the target language. - Students present information and ideas in the target language on a variety of topics to the readers and listeners. Standard 4 Culture Students know "what to do when" and "what to say while doing it" in the culture and use this knowledge to interact in the culture appropriately. They also understand the relationship between cultural perspectives, products and practices within cultures. Standard 5 Connections Students use the target language and authentic sources to reinforce and/or learn other content from the other subject areas. Standard 6 Comparisons Students develop insights into their own language and their own culture through the study of their target language. Standard 7 Communities Students use the content language within and beyond the school setting. |
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Oak Valley students will demonstrate mastery of the skills and knowledge needed to succeed on external measures of assessment as required by the state or post-secondary education programs. Oak Valley students will engage in behaviors/experiences that demonstrate academic achievement, teamwork, respect and citizenship. Oak Valley students will adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. |
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE RULES (BYOD RULES)
1.- Always Use the Device for Educational Purposes. 2.- It is Expected That You Will Use Devices In a Responsible Way. 3.- Always Use the Device At the Teacher's Invitation. 4.- Calling and Text Messaging Are Not Acceptable At Anytime. 5.- Taking Pictures or Video Are Only Allowed With Teacher Supervision. 6.- Hallways And Cafeteria Are Red Zones For Devices And Headphones. 7.- Locker Rooms And Bathrooms Are Always Off Limits For Personal Devices. Note: Technology will be used in the classroom at appropriate times. However, students DO NOT need to bring a personal device unless clearly required by the teacher. Chromebooks will be provided to work on specific tasks that align with the learning objectives of this course. |
